IT’S TIME NOW for our HEALTHY MINUTE SEGMENT BROUGHT TO YOU BY Larry Jacobs and Thin Golfer.com

TODAY’S TIP IS…
Beware of Soda and Stroke Risk

If you want to reduce your risk of strokes, eliminating soda, both regular and diet, appears to be a smart move. In the first large study to evaluate the relationship between soda consumption and stroke risk, researchers determined:

Overall, adults who drank one soda or more a day on average were 16% more likely to suffer a stroke, with women at somewhat higher risk than men.

(So if you need incentive and motivation to quit this habit, ask yourself whether the pleasure you get from drinking it is worth having a stroke)

This is not surprising since past studies have linked soda consumption with weight gain, high blood pressure, gout, heart disease, diabetes, and abnormal blood fats. In fact, (Larry says) he does not know of any quicker means to trash your health on the dietary front than by consuming sugary beverages.

[These findings mirrored the results of an earlier study, published in the journal Diabetes Care, which found that daily diet soda drinkers were actually more likely to develop diabetes and metabolic syndrome (a cluster of symptoms linked with an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease).]

On the other hand you can avoid all of that–by avoiding soda in favor of water and unsweetened tea as your main beverage.
